Story Starter

You’re the captain of a steamboat drifting down a river towards a huge waterfall with deadly jagged rocks at the bottom. The engine has plenty of power to get away from the falls, but your first mate pours water onto the fire that heats the boiler. He then pulls out a gun and makes all the crew jump overboard. “Let’s restart the engine,” you say to him. “Not unless you make me captain,” he replies. “You fool — we’ll go over the edge. You and I will be killed, and all the passengers too!” “But you’ll take the blame!” he says, and laughs. “Anyway, it can’t be so bad to go over the falls. If it were, you’d do what I say!”
